What are your hours of operation?
Megan Manus Photography is open Monday-Thursday from 10am – 5pm. Sessions are scheduled from 10am to 4pm, however some later afternoon outdoor session times may be available during daylight savings time. I am closed Friday, Saturday and Sunday- that is my family time.
How do I book a portrait photography session?
Your first step is to send me a message through the contact section on this website. I will then send you an email with pricing and session information for you to review. If you wish to proceed with scheduling a session, you will complete a session questionnaire and pay your deposit, then we will start planning!
What time of day is best for outdoor portraits?
I only shoot outdoor sessions during the last hour of daylight, also referred to as the golden hour of the day. During this time the sun is lowest in the sky, creating nice even, soft light. the lighting is the most important thing for flattering outdoor portraits. I would choose good light over a good location any day!
What if it rains on the day that my outdoor session is scheduled?
If you have scheduled an outdoor session and it rains, then we will have to reschedule…unless you want to try some artsy rain shots- haha! If we have to reschedule a session due to the weather, then we will discuss some alternate dates!
What happens if I have to reschedule or cancel my session?
If you have to reschedule your session, your session fee will still apply to the session date that you reschedule to, as long as it is within one month of the original date. I ask that you please try to give me 48 hours notice if you must reschedule your session.
If you choose to cancel your session, then you will lose your deposit and your session date will be cancelled. If you decide to schedule another session later, you will have to pay the session deposit again.
When do I schedule a newborn session?
Newborn sessions MUST be scheduled PRIOR to the baby’s arrival to make sure that we are able to shoot within the first 3-10 days after birth. Timing for these sessions are very important! Once your baby is over about two weeks of age, they start becoming more alert and are awake for longer times…making it much more difficult to photograph.
What should I expect during a newborn session?
Newborn sessions are very time consuming. Don’t think that you are going to walk in the door, lay your precious baby on a cute blanket and they are just going to sleep like a rock for two hours- oh no haha! Newborn sessions are very slow paced with a lot of waiting, a lot of precise posing and a little bit of shooting. I strive for 3 different looks or set ups during a typical newborn session. There is plenty of time during these sessions for feeding, changing, holding and cuddling. Accidents WILL happen…in fact I expect them and everything in the studio is washable I promise! The studio will be very warm, to encourage baby to sleep, so be sure that you dress in layers so that you will not get too hot while we are shooting.
What should I expect after my photography session?
After your session, I get to work editing all of your beautiful images! I will have your proofs ready for you within 10-12 days after your session. I will notify you via email when your proofs are ready and online for you to view. Please keep in mind, I run every single aspect of this business on my own, and balance a family life in the meantime – but I am VERY prompt with my work…I just ask that you keep this timeframe in mind while anxiously waiting for your images : )
How do I order prints and products?
All ordering is done online, on the proofing website where you will view your images. The ordering software is straightforward and easy to navigate, however do not hesitate to email me if you are having any issues. You are always welcome to make an appointment with me to come in to the studio and view your images on my large screen and order your products and prints in person.
