As many of you know, I had quite a scare with Sam last week. While we were walking last Wednesday evening, he started stumbling around and fell down in the road. I picked him up, ran home, and put him in a bath of cool water, convinced it was a doggy heat stroke. He cooled down, but could no longer walk straight and just seemed confused. Well, apparently is was NOT heat stroke, it was Distibular disease ….which is characterized by twitching eyes, loss of balance and not being able to walk, and a head tilt- all of which Sam has. He has been on medicine for a week now, and back to the vet every few days for checkups, and I am happy to say he is doing a lot better, although not back to normal yet. At least he can walk a little better and isn’t falling over every couple steps like he was before. Still, it is heartbreaking to see him like this and I really hope he will make a full recovery very soon.
Last week, after his second vet appointment, I called my friend Jennifer to ask her a favor - would she mind taking some pictures of Sam for me…..I just felt like I wanted them…no needed them… right then…just in case. And she of course, stopped everything she was doing and agreed to take them for me, right then- because that is just the kind of person she is. Jennifer, I cannot thank you enough for capturing these images for me. I will treasure them always and they mean so much to me. You are truly a good friend to me.
Here is my Old Man ……

And then I shot these following two…..
