Thank you!!!

August 18, 2010

I just wanted to say a great big “THANK YOU” to all of my customers for being patient with me while we were moving these past two weeks .  Thankfully, I didn’t get too far behind, but I did take a day or two longer to edit some sessions and a few days longer than usual on getting some orders out…but thank you to everyone for being so patient and understanding!!  Ya’ll are the best!!  I must say that moving is truely horrible…and just think…..once we get good and settled in here, we will get to do it all over again- oh joy!!!

It’s the little things…

August 10, 2010

So, we moved over the weekend….well not totally.  We are still in the process of moving stuff still, every day, in this horrible heat- uuugh! But we are now living somewhere else, temporarily, while our house is being built.  I guess it won’t be so bad here….Sam has already picked out his favorite “sun” spot in front of the windows, we finally have a garage (for the jeep of course!) and a bigger closet that Gordon and I can actually share!!!   For the whole almost 8  years that we have been married, we have not been able to share a closet, because the other house had such tiny closets ( major down fall of the older homes).  My clothes and dressers were in our bedroom and Gordon’s clothes and dressers were in the spare bedroom.  So now we feel like we are just married all over again because we have to learn to share closet space and get ready in the same room now- hahaha!!  I must say, I was overjoyed to the point of tears Sunday night, when I finally got done organizing my half of the closet, and got to just stand there and admire it…….it was a beautiful sight.   Pants on bottom rack, shirts on top….all totally color categorized…..and MORE than enough room for ALL of my clothes…….aaagggghhhh.  It’s the little things….

Sorry I haven’t been posting much on here the past week…life is absolutely CRAZY!   We sold our house and are closing in August.  We have decided to build, which will take a while, so we are moving to a rental house in the mean time….which is SMALLER than our house now- did I mention that? Yep, should be fun.   So for the past week I have been taking care of things for the rental house, packing up our house, trying to locate a storage unit, dealing with utility companies getting the stuff turned on in the new place and off in this house, oh and dealing with everything in THIS house that decides it is going to break right before we move. It’s almost like the house is trying to keep us here, haha!!   Then on top of that, I decided to buy a new computer, so the past two whole days have been spent re-loading all of my programs and things onto it, just so I can work like normal again.  AAAAAGGGHHHHHHH!   It is a good thing that I will be on vacation the rest of the week- because I don’t think I could take another day right now…..I’ll be back next week- BYE!

Sam

July 20, 2010

As many of you know, I had quite a scare with Sam last week. While we were walking last Wednesday evening, he started stumbling around and fell down in the road. I picked him up, ran home, and put him in a bath of cool water, convinced it was a doggy heat stroke.  He cooled down, but could no longer walk straight and just seemed confused.  Well, apparently is was NOT heat stroke, it was Distibular disease ….which is characterized by twitching eyes, loss of balance and not being able to walk, and a head tilt- all of which Sam has.  He has been on medicine for a week now, and back to the vet every few days for checkups, and I am happy to say he is doing a lot better, although not back to normal yet.   At least he can walk  a little better and isn’t falling over every couple steps like he was before. Still, it is heartbreaking to see him like this and I really hope he will make a full recovery very soon.

Last week, after his second vet appointment, I called my friend Jennifer to ask her a favor - would she mind taking some pictures of Sam for me…..I just felt like I wanted them…no needed them… right then…just in case.  And she of course, stopped everything she was doing and agreed to take them for me, right then- because that is just the kind of person she is.  Jennifer, I cannot thank you enough for capturing these images for me.  I will treasure them always and they mean so much to me.  You are truly a good friend to me.

Haha- ok, so I REALLY need to be working right now, but I just saw this Kia commercial on TV and it made me laugh out loud- so I thought you might like a laugh on this Friday too!  Now I am back to work!!

Hope everyone had a great Fourth of July weekend!! I enjoyed some time at the beach with Gordon….of course we never actually SAW the beach…or a pool- oh well, it was still good to get away…..and even better to get home!  (yep, I am a “home-body”).  I did a lot of shopping….and I swear the clothes are being made smaller and smaller……actually I think that means I am getting bigger- haha!!  And of course we ate lots of not-good-for-you food…..which is what led to the clothes not fitting in the first place!  Oh yes, I have decided it is officially DIET TIME.

Of course if I am going to start a diet, the “last meal” has to be a good one, right? So last night we went to Ruth’s Chris for our official last bad-food-meal.  It was divine, like it always is.   And even though I was beyond full after dinner…..oh yes I had to have dessert…..hey it had berries on it….that counts for fruit right???   Needless to say, I seriously “waddled” out of that place last night.  I was so full, I didn’t ever want to see food again- so maybe that was a good strategy pigging out like that……now if I can just stick to that mentality. Let the DIET begin!!!!

Sam has a hard life, I mean really.  He lays on his bed all day in my office and snores, get treats at least 3 times a day and gets to go outside whenever he wants. It’s tough being a dog.  While I was doing laundry, in between editing pictures and screaming at my half-functioning computers- I noticed he was not in my office with me.  I rounded the corner to the living room and saw him…..cuddled up in the warm towels that I had taken from the dryer (and forgot to fold of course).  Seems like the perfect thing to do on a rainy day like this…….

Computers are……the most annoying things on earth when they are NOT working properly!!  I was already having some computer issues anyway, but at least I could still work….well I sat down at my computer this morning to find that I could not connect to the Internet.  After an hour or soon the phone with tech support (who of course was NOT great at speaking English) , we have determined that the network card is bad. i am thinking it may be the result of some lightening from last night? Lovely. At least it is still under warranty (yay), but now I am having to edit on the desktop, copy everything to flash drives, load it on my laptop to burn backups and post proofs to the internet, oh and answer emails from my phone (thank goodness for the blackberry!).  It is quite a sight…..and quite a PAIN!  What a horrible Monday….it makes me want to scream!

Late night sing-a-longs

June 13, 2010

I can’t believe I am admitting this, but one of my favorite things to do, when I am driving home late at night from a wedding ( like I was tonight) ….is to find some really good, old songs, and belt them out at the top of my lungs!  Of course, it seems like every time you find a really good one…the signal goes out! uuugh- so frustrating!  So tonight, I am driving down I-20 and pick up bits and pieces of a Hank Jr song, that I tried really hard to sing along with, but it kept cutting out too bad.  (Yes, I do love me some Hank Jr- don’t laugh).  Then I surfed around some more stations and found some good old Guns N Roses- woohoo! I cranked it up, sang a few notes….and then nothing but static!!! uuugh!  I ended up singing “Ghetto Superstar”- not usually my style, but at least I could sing along to the chorus parts- haha!!  Oh, and did I mention….I am an amazing singer….as long as I am ALONE, in my car, with the windows rolled up.   But yeah, I sound just like the people on the radio…haha!!!
